My kids surprised me with this puppy on my birthday in '04. 'Course, I'd dropped a hint that they could find "something I'd like" on Enrico's site. Never expected them to pull the trigger. And they picked a great page, too! Talk about shilouettes. Thanks, kidlins! |
A fine page featuring Dizzy Cordova and Branch. But I love way Risso made the woman in the black dress the focal point of the center area of this page. |

When my daughter translated the French for me, I just had to have this page--roughly, the guy's saying "who's there. What do you want? I have a stale loaf of bread and two apples!" And is brandishing the loaf as a weapon. Classic. |

He may be Argentinian, but Risso's got a knack for capturing the mood of any city he's drawing. I just love the iconic rendering of Dizzy Cordova here. |
Between the detailed bar room and the dot-eyed Dizzy among the tables, I can't help but think of Herge's Tin Tin. An appropriate thought given that this 100 Bullets episode takes place in Paris. Love the silhouette in the last panel! |
I spent much of S.D. 2003 trying to decide whether to buy this or page 16 from this issue. I ultimately decided on 16, as it had been calling me since I first saw it in print. Then at the close of the show, Eduardo Risso told Enrico Salvini to let me pick any 100 Bullets page I wanted as a gift! This was the page I chose. Thanks, Eduardo and Enrico!!! |
