Hellboy The Third Wish #2, p. 14

Scored this at the start of preview night at Comic-Con 05, where me and about seven other guys queued up to buy art from Mike Mignola, who hadn't sold anything but a few pinups at SD for three years. Love that lower left panel!

Batman/Hellboy/Starman 1, pg. 1

The Joker tries to evade police helicopters--this is the first of many pieces I've purchased from Dan Goudreau. Love those buildings.

Batman/Hellboy/Starman 2, pg.23

This piece was half of my wife's birthday present to me in Dec. 2000. Purchased from Albert Moy.

Hellboy: The Conqueror Worm 1, p.2

Picked this piece up at Mike Mignola's booth the first day of Comic-con 2001, where I queued up an hour before the show for my chance to score a page. I'd gone to SD with the intention of buying a bunch of Mignola's but blew most of my cash on preview night. Being a convention virgin, I didn't know Mignola would only be taking cash or traveler's checks. So after all that waiting, I could only afford one page. D'oh! I love Mignola's medieval castles and was quite happy to get this piece, which Mike pointed out has the bonus of a misquote of Poe's poem on it.

Ray Bradbury Comics 4, The City p.7

Grabbed this at Albert Moy's booth at San Diego, 2001, preview night. When I brought it over to Mignola's booth Saturday to ask him to sign it, at first he seemed annoyed I was keeping him from taking a break. But when I pulled the piece from the portfolio his eyes lit up, and he exclaimed, "Wow. That's some page!" I dumbly agreed. He then told me this was the most difficult story he'd ever tried to illustrate as it tells the story of a city from the city's POV. Ray Bradbury wrote the story--he'd been at SD earlier, but I missed him. Rats.

Wake the Devil 5, p. 3

Couldn't say no when my friend Bruce Haley offered me this page right before the holidays in 2007. I love the way Mignola does architecture, hence I love this page, the earliest Hellboy page in my collection.
